I am pleased to hear of your good fortune. I must confess that I am moved by your overture. The princess must have learned what we already knew about you. Your courage and kind heart are an inspiration to us all.
Lyon has been a hive of activity over the last few weeks. I and the other members of the town council have been hard at work mapping out the future plans for our growing town. Though the memory of our losses still lingers in our thoughts, the mountains of work that stand before us keep us busy and hopeful.
At your request, I extended your offer to Lars. He blanched when I told him the news of your knighthood. I think I noted a hint of envy. His adventurer’s heart is acclimating to the sedentary life in a small village. I think he will be a good fit for the position. He indicated that he would correspond with the Reverend Mother DuLak in Hlofreden for on advice as how to accommodate your request. He seemed excited to entertain your offer.
Regarding the initiative to build a garrison here in Lyon, I feel a need to extend the diversity of diversions that my be offered in our little town. Soldiers have appetites and it may put a strain on our resources to maintain morale with so many new members to our small community. I trust your pervious experience commanding soldiers will offer a template for managing our new friends.
Your offer of service is noble, a fitting tribute to your new station. I look forward to hearing your news in person so that we may discuss our future. I will set aside a bottle of our best for your arrival.
Affectionately,
Amalia
