Rana - A week ago I set out on a path. Captain Cateras and his companions treated me with respect and and paid me twice the going rate for my guide services.
My brother's friends asked me to describe him. "Was he charming? Was he charismatic?" Gods yes, I didn't know at the time the woman traveling with him was Keela. All my life it seems she has had the attentions of the men in my life. I doesn't matter really. I prefer the work.
I was nervous on my first overland guide mission, but I wasn't going to let on to strangers my discomfort. Now I find myself again on the road to Dowery. My brother and his friends are off to do some prospecting in the Coalbright area. Sig offered to sell me some shares in their venture, but then thought better of it. Maybe he is not sure what it is worth. I told him I would take this job for free if I could buy in. He still wasn't having it. I never pictured any of Floki's friends becoming legitimate, but if their knack for trouble is as strong as their business moxie I can't go too far wrong.
The stories they told at the pub last night were as deep into fable and legend as I have ever heard. To see them talk with straight faces told me their wild tales were true, or at least they believed them.
If this is the path to a bigger world, my knife will cut a broader path. I'll be damned if i'm gonna miss out on the fun!
